Submitting Your Proposal
Complete the Proposal Intake Form as soon as you intend to submit a proposal for external funding. All proposals must be complete and ready to route, including SP and sponsor application, at least five full business/working days (typically one calendar week) prior to the submission deadline.
Cayuse Proposal System
Cayuse is the system used for preparing, approving, and submitting all proposals for external funding.
Your pre-award manager will need discuss your proposal with you. The PI will need to start a Cayuse record. You will then have access to record and update the proposal, upload documents, and start the routing and approval process.
Cayuse SP
Cayuse SP (Sponsored Projects) houses your proposal and routes it for university approval and sign-off. The Cayuse SP record is the file of record for all external grant proposals.
Cayuse 424
Cayuse 424 provides system-to-system submissions for U.S. Federal grant proposals. All submissions from Cayuse 424 must have a paired proposal in Cayuse SP used for tracking and approval.
Proposal Routing and Approval
Before submission, all proposals must be reviewed and approved by the Research and Sponsored Programs pre-award manager.
The lead, ISU co-principal investigators, and other ISU senior personnel need to certify the proposal in Cayuse before the final submission. The routing process obtains required approvals of all appropriate university leadership.
Policy does not allow submission of proposals until all approvals and certifications are obtained.
