Illinois State recognizes the research efforts of our faculty through various forms of internal grants. Research can include traditional research, creative expression, and all other types of scholarly activities.

Advancing Research and Creative Scholarship (ARCS)
The intended purpose of this program is to foster innovation of research and creative scholarship activities at Illinois State through greater coordination, alignment, and strategic investments, which will in turn increase competitiveness and transformational potential of applications for external funding.
Book Subvention Support
Application period: ongoing
Gives up to $750 in matching funds to tenured and tenure-track faculty who have the opportunity to publish a scholarly book requiring a subvention. Additional information included in application.

Proposal Development Travel Grant
Application period: ongoing
Provides travel support to faculty or staff. Support is limited to $1,000 as reimbursement of allowable costs. A limited number of grants are available each year. Full details are included in the application.
Publication Grant
Application period: ongoing
Matches up to $250 per faculty member to support publication costs, exhibition fees, and open access fees. This program cannot be used to pay for the publication of works by publishers known to use unscrupulous or predatory tactics. Additional details are included in the application.

The University Research Grant program is an internal grant program funded by the University and administered by each college. Contact your College Research Coordinator for additional program details.
