Subawards

A subaward is an agreement with a third party organization to collaborate with your project. Subawards are typically not issued to individuals, but another institution or business. Read more about determining contractual arrangements if you are unsure about what best fits your partnership.

Your proposal needs to explain the relationship and work to be done at each institution. Required documents include:

  • Subrecipient Commitment Form
  • Statement of work including a detailed description of the work to be performed, who will do the work, timeline, and any deliverables.
  • Line-item budget including direct and indirect costs that follows the format required by the sponsor.
  • Budget justification explaining the need for requested funds in the budget.
  • Any additional documents required by sponsors.

Please inform your pre-award manager a minimum of one month prior to the deadline if you plan to include a subaward or international collaborator in your proposal.
